Text alignment in a cube in Illustator

Hello, I would like to align a letter inside a side of a cube so it would be centered. I somehow managed to do it using smart guides, but it took me a lot of time to do that. Does anyone know a faster way?

To do this, select the 2 objects and click the cube again. This will set the cube as the object to align to when you align horizontally and vertically. Click the align horizontally and align vertically button in the control palliate.

Another way to dynamically create text cubes or buttons that will shrink/grow as you type is to type your text, then in the Appearance panel add an additional fill.

On the lower fill, choose the color you want for your button then apply effect Convert to Shape > Rectangle. Choose Relative in the size options, and apply any additional "padding" to your rectangle. Often time the font will not center the way you want it to, so on this same fill, apply effect Distort & Transform > Transform. Be sure the Preview box is checked in the Transform dialog box, and adjust any additional with and positioning you need to get your desired result.

Doing it this way will not only make text revisions easier, but will clean up your Illustrator document as well. And, if the style is something that you see yourself using repeatedly, you can save the style to your Graphic Styles and apply it to future text with the click of a button.
