The terminal doesn't allow me to write "@"

When I type the keys I use to write @, the terminal doesn't allow me to do it, nor does it allow me to paste text so I can copy the symbol and paste it there.

I need to be able to add my email.

Could you tell where exactly do you write and what?

I tried typing @ in workspaces console it worked ...

And I am definitely be able to paste @ sign... Right click, and paste ...

So it would be nice if you can specify where exactly you type and what command ...

Hi, thanks for your answer.

I was here: https://console.teamtreehouse.com/window

What I was trying to do is to write my email for using Git.

My keyboard has a latam layout.

Hm... Could you be a little more specific?

All I can infer from your question, is that when you are typing email in your browser or anywhere on computer but not in the Treehouse console window, using for example "SHIFT + 2" combination, it works, right ?

But when you go to console and type "SHIFT + 2" - it does not, am I right?

What i would like to know how do you type "@" sign anywhere else (in browser, text editor) and does it work?

Hi, thanks for your time.

I write "@" using Alt Gr + Q, that's how it's done in latam layout. All other symbols work in the treehouse. Also, Alt + 64 didn't work either.

I have German Layout and also have to type 'Alt Gr + Q' to insert @ sign...

And it does work for me ...

But you haven't answered the most important question... Does your @ sign works in other apps, like Browser and etc...

Because if it does working than I just advise you to use Terminal on your local machine.

After all, Treehouse workspace is just a Bash console, that exist on every machine every OS:

There is Bash available for Windows, Mac and Linux of course....

And then all you have to do is to open such Terminal on your machine and run all commands that is suggested in course there ...

Yes, I can write @ in all other places, but not in the Treehouse workspace.

I'm using my terminal since I can no longer work correctly on the Treehouse one.

SOLUTION: I know this is an old thread but just searched for this today since I got the same problem with Swedish keyboard layout and ALT GR + 2.

I solved this by switching keyboard layout with ALT + SHIFT (on windows), then using the shortcut SHIFT + 2 and finally switching back to the original layout by using the same command again. It worked wonders for me. If ALT + SHIFT does not change your layout: You can go into your region and language settings in Windows to add English as a new keyboard.

I you are uncertain if your keyboard has changed layout, you can sometimes look in the lower right hand side of the screen for the language shorthand EN or e.g. SV (for Swedish)
