JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Creating Reusable Code with Functions Create a max() Function

There was an error with your code: SyntaxError: Parse error

Frustrating. I think I've got this right, but I'm a beginner and obviously something is amiss. I would appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction.

script.js
function max(firstNum, secondNum)  { ;
  if (firstNum > secondNum) {return firstNum };
  else {return secondNum };
}

The problem is with your semi-colons(;). There should not be a semi-colon after the opening bracket of your function (the one of the first line of your code); additionally, the semi-colons you have on the second and third lines should be inside their brackets at the end of the last word in the statement.

So, it should look like:

function max (firstNum, secondNum) {
  if (firstNum > secondNum) {
     return firstNum;
  } else {
     return secondNum;
    }
}

You rock Ted. Thanks for the insight.
