Totally random: Print as an interactive format...from The Economist newspaper...

In this module Guil said that print is not an interactive format. Being new to web design (and design, in general), it never occurred to me to think of print as interactive or not-interactive. First: thanks for expanding the way I think! Second: I happened to stumble on this apparently "rare" example of a print format that is, in fact, interactive. The Economist newspaper draws a box in this week's print edition and invites the "user" (ie reader) to throw a dart at the box to simulate the odds of being murdered in Honduras (1/599).

There is a technology from a company called Layar that introduces interactive elements in printed documents. Several companies have started using it, but it seems to be a bit premature for real-world applications in my opinion. The only demographic (in my opinion) that would really find it useful would be the Google Glass crowd. You can check out what it does on their video.
