Treehouse Website Tooltips

Hi all,

I really love the design direction on the Treehouse website. I especially admire the tooltips and the animations that accompany them. Does anyone have an idea as to how they were cleanly implemented?

I'm specifically referring to the tooltips that appear when hovering over the menu items in the side navigation bar and the notifications window that pops down.
