As I read this article, I thought to myself - treehouse taught me those concepts as part of basic web design. The teachers of treehouse were ahead of the curve in 2012. What do you see as trends for 2013?

Treehouse Guest TeacherI think in 2013 designers will use their attention to detail in a much more matured and refined way. We'll see websites that no longer mimic other environments (skeumorphism), and instead focus more on refining the interface and experience that the user is actually using. Actions will be simplified. We'll see more and more clean, flat interfaces and SVGs will be everywhere.
Responsive design will be just... web design. CSS3 will be just... CSS.
Because "designing a website" and "coding a website" are no longer two separate jobs, It will be more necessary than ever for designers to know how to code in order to solve real UI/UX design problems. Which also think because of this, there will continue to be less of a gulf between designers and developers.
