I want nothing more in life than to be a coder! Although only a Jr, in High school, I'm currently working on my own websites and different projects and am loving every minute of it, but I have a slight paranoia in the back of my mind. That is, what should be my next move when taking what I learn and love and making it into a career. Should I do freelance work? Look to get hired by a company or group to give me different real word projects? But if so where should I look? I'm sure not waiting till after collage to get started, HA! No. This might be strange to put on a forum like this, but it would be nice to have an answer to my finger taping question. Thanks to all.

33,856 PointsOne good approach is focusing on what you can do with the things you learn, which will most times automatically turn into something, whether it be freelancing or working for a company. The short answer is just get started. Nearly every web professional needs to know HTML, CSS and some JavaScript. From there you can move on to what you feel best suits you. Maybe master that first, or to some degree at least. Some people will try their hand and front-end development and find later they want to do more things on the back-end. Others like designing things so that's what they mostly do.
I've somewhat answered this question in other places on the forum, so I'm going to share some of the same information below as well. Also, it's worth noting that one good way to get started in this industry is working for free. Creating websites for non-profit organizations, local businesses, etc. is one way to get yourself out there. Welcome to Treehouse!

I've been making websites for different organizations in a "only experience" manner for quite some time now, so it's a great joy knowing i'm on the right track with that.
