Development Tools

Unable to see updated js and css file changes in browser.

When I save files (using sublime text) & "open index.html" I am able to see the index.html file changes but not the js or css changes? All the files are linked correctly. It's weird, when I go to the developer tools in chrome, I can see the js and css files but they are not updated with the new changes.

Are you using a local development setup like WAMP or MAMP? What can you tell us about how you have things setup, are you testing this in a live environment or a local environment?

Hey Mike! I believe I am using a local environment but I do not have WAMP or MAMP setup. I am still new with sublime text and git, so bear with me. Do you think I need to setup SublimeServer in order to see the js & css changes?

OK, so walk me through your process, you have a file open in Sublime, then what? Where are you saving that file? Do you have all your assets saved in a project folder with a certain directory structure? i.e. images, css, etc.

Once I make file changes, I save in sublime then I git add & commit in the terminal. Here's the URL to the open file:

And yes the files are all structured correctly in their folders.

Are you committing to a local repository? Or to a GitHub repository? If you just go into that folder and double click on index.html to open it in the browser are you able to see your changes?

You helped me figure it out! For some reason I had two of the same files. One in my js folder & one in the shoppingapp folder. I should've looked in the beginning. Thank you so much!!!

If you are sure that you have overwritten the previous files. Maybe your files are simply cached... try to reload the page ignoring the cache, inside google chrome, I think It's CTRL+SHIFT+R or CTRL+F5.
