User Experience Tutorials Suck

It tells me a lot of shit about budgeting, what is quantitative vs qualitative, rather than teaching me how to do UX design. I dont need that. I need to learn how to do UX design. Give me tons of examples!!!

Shenxin, but this is what UX design is essentially? How can you design for a user which you have not researched?

I think it can be kinda confusing when people use the phrase UX design, I think these practices could be more properly referred to as UX-influenced design. The techniques used in the User Experience field are largely held up by the pillars of Cognitive Psychology, Usability & User Research.

You can observe usability in examples, particular if you highlight issues with usability and how to correct them. However most of the important topics around UX are concepts, things you read about and then apply in your own work.

A great book to get a feeling for UX is Don't Make Me Think

Hi shenxin. Don't Make Me think by Krug is a great, fast read on UX. I highly recommend it. Another I find myself using frequently as more of a comprehensive reference is The Design of Sites. It breaks down websites into easily identified patterns to help you solve common UX problems.

I would suggest you send your suggestions for improvement directly to the Treehouse Team without colorful language. I guess that there are other resources out there where you can really learn all the tips and tricks regarding UX design. Good luck with your quest. Giuseppe

This is not constructive feedback at all. You're saying that there is something wrong with the videos but yet you dont offer any way of improving them, so how can you identify there is a problem?

Thanks a lot, Matt! I'll definitely read that book.

Anytime. Let me know how you like it and if it helps.

To Richard, I am not obligated to design a solution for you, since I am here to learn UX, not to teach. Critique from paid buyer is constructive. If you can't stand the heat, stay at home.

Critique from paid buyer is constructive.

I think a better term here would be good not constructive. All feedback by definition is a good thing, however that doesn't necessarily make it constructive.
