Using Images and Avoiding Copyright or Trademark Infringement

So, let's say I have setup a wordpress blog and I wanted to make an article about this site teamtreehouse. How do I use their logo without infringing copyright or trademark laws? This query is not limited to just teamtreehouse's logo, but what if I wanted to blog about Apple, inc., how do I find a logo fo my article? Does stating "courtesy of such company" enough?

That would most likely fall into the category of Fair Use.

"If you are writing and commenting about a company, product, or famous person, then it’s a no-brainer that it’s fair use to use the company’s logo, product image, or headshot in your blog post."

James has the right idea. The problem is when people start using/misrepresenting logos in order to market their own goods. Also, most companies will have press/media kits that document how their brand should best be represented and often include asset files.
