Using SCASS variable

I have declared an SCSS variable and am attempting to use it in my h1 element. My syntax appears to be correct. Not sure why I am getting a syntax error. I am using curly braces as is necessary. The error has something to do with not using curly braces correctly.

style.scss
$color-brand: #6a5acd

h1 {
  color: $color-brand;
}

You need to close your opening line with a semi colon. SASS is just as unforgiving about semi colons as CSS, I'm afraid. 😊
