Try to refresh the page and/or check your Internet connection. It's hard to use Treehouse with a slow Internet connection.

My internet connection is above 3Mbps. Reloading has the same result. I can watch youtube without problems.

It is just the Treehouse player that fails. The video cover image loads fine, the the player interface loads - but then the player interface disappears, and the video can not be played.

Im using chrome.

2 weeks later. Different device, different internet connection, same problem.

That' weird... For me the videos work 100% fine...

Hey Carl,

So sorry for any troubles caused. Unfortunately, while flattering, we can't be compared straight across with YouTube, as their resources to deliver content far outweigh our own options.

That being said, the "Error loading this resource" is very often a local network issue. I occasionally see it on my home network when bandwidth is shaky during peak usage times or times when my ISP is having some widespread local issues.

While potentially strange you've seen the issue on different devices and different networks, we can't rule out that both networks are afflicted by the same issue.

When you load a video that displays this error, can you also check the browser's console to see if there are any errors? You can find this via the three vertical dots at the end of the URL bar --> more tools --> developer tools. Then find "console" in the horizontal header tab of options. If you don't mind, please try opening this, taking a screenshot of what you see there, if anything, and forward it and the URLs of any videos you're having trouble with, and we'll continue to troubleshoot via email. Thank you for your patience!

Console Error: Navigated to https://teamtreehouse.com/library/if-else Uncaught (in promise) DOMException: Failed to load because no supported source was found.

Could it be that older hardware does not support the video codec you are using?

Current device: Intel Centrino, 3 GB RAM 32bit Win 8.1 Pro, Chrome 56.0.2924.87

I've even format/reloaded my laptop - same problem.

Also my internet is running constant @ 5 Mbps down link. Video not even playing at off-peak times like 3AM.

As stated above:

  • I can see the cover image an playback controls as the video attempts to load
  • After about 2 seconds the playback controls disappear
  • "Cannot load resource" appears next to the cover image
  • Console error appear as above
  • Cover image flickers when hovered over

It's working in Firefox (latest) Yippy!!

But definitely not working in Chrome (latest)

For me, it's working in Chrome. I'm not 100% sure if I have the latest version of Chrome, though.

I am having the same problem for some reason. Please help, I don't know what to do!
