visual studio code is saying my file has binary and is adding weird symbols to my code.. i have no idea what to do

what do i need to do to make VSC open my file correctly

I was having the same problem, but I figured it out. After downloading your project from workspace, click open file then, you'll drag your project folder to desktop. Next, right click on project folder on desktop and click "extract all" from there it should create a new folder which can be uploaded to VS code and will look similar to workspace. :)
