Web Design portfolio

Hey guys, I am wanting to begin working on a web design portfolio to try to land a job as a n entry level web designer, how many pieces should I have in my portfolio before I start looking for a job? Thanks

There's not a number. It will take as many as it takes, just keep loading new examples into your portfolio as fast as you can make good representations of your skills.

Personally I'd recommend at least 12. That way you hopefully have a variety of design styles that a Prospective employer can see where your skills are at. Don't be afraid to design an impressive website as well to show off your skills that weren't requested of you by your clients as well.

Yeah. Oh, and don't sweat it if you can't come up with a concept for your own site, many designers have trouble establishing their brand.

But yeah, 10-12 pieces should work for your purpose. What I intend to do, personally, is have 10-12 "featured" pieces on my portfolio site and then allow people to see more by clicking a particular software, language or skill for a demonstration.
