Hello my name is Nestor, I'm trying to start my own business as a website developer but I'm relatively new to the industry so I have to educate myself on how to build a website, how to build logos, familiarize myself with WordPress and all necessary materials. I sign up for Team Treehouse but I don't know where to start, If you can guide me on where to start I would appreciate it, Thanks

10,317 PointsHi you have alot to learn but that's a good thing! You can avoid bad habits and do things right the first time around or 2nd and 3rd. I would recommend you definitely start with the basic of the web design course then leave javascript basics and javascript loops and arrays then jquery basics to get your interactivity going for your websites, next would say take the php development course once you are comfortable with html and css then the wordpress basics videos then the wordpress development. Word press development is so important in helping you land jobs because in todays world everyone can just use a theme and be done with it, but if you work for a digital agency for example that make their websites from scratch, their own custom themes from psds, then it will make you a force to be wreckoned with. Do not rely on themes, create your own, do not rely on plugins create your own!
Now the graphic side of things You should be familiar with the history of graphic design, learn typography (really important), mastering color for best user experience, once you have that down take a couple of art classes maybe if you have art skills already then great!sketch out some logos scan them in bring it in to illustrator and make different versions. Illustrator and Photoshop is all a graphic artist really needs. There are other programs but these are industry standard.
Just do a little at a time, challenge yourself make small projects that push your thinking or creativity. Just remember you have to build up examples of the knowledge you have to show to potential employers. So make sure after each chapter you take in a track or each project, that you rebuild the project and throw your own style and ideas into it.
