Website design tools

Are there front end web dev design tools that are out there I could use on Mac? I cannot afford photoshop at the moment, so that is out of the picture, but would like a bit of guidance on what a good design tool is.

I just finished the first course in the Web Development track (basics of HTML and CSS) and am now taking what I have learned to make my first (very basic) website.

I drew my website on paper, but would like to incorporate it into an on-board design tool on my Mac if possible.

There are a number of code editors out to help you with the programming side. Some of the most notable ones are Sublime Text (you can use this even when your trial runs out), Brackets, TextMate 2, TextWrangler, and Coda to name a few. I would look into getting a free trial of Adobe Creative Suite to get started on the design side of things. Adobe has been known to release free older versions of Photoshop for the public to download. I definitely understand not being able to afford the software so look into GIMP for a free Photoshop alternative and InkScape for a free Illustrator alternative. There are mounds of YouTube videos on how to use the software to get you started. I hope that helps.

You may also look into Sketch and Pixelmator. Both are available through the Apple App store with a one-time license purchase. Treehouse currently offers a course on how to build a user interface with Sketch. They also have a link to get 20% off if you purchase through the developers website in the Student Perks area http://teamtreehouse.com/perks

I was able to get Sketch 3 for 50% off because I'm currently a student in Japan (learning Japanese!) So I got a good deal with that.

それは素晴らしいことです!(That's great!)

Special thanks to Google's translator!
