What am I doing wrong?

Using python i have to split this variable please help!

banana.py 
available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
available.split("banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"

In the code, you're trying to use the .split method to split the string by the string. returns ['', '']

Instead use the character you want to split the string on -> ';'
