What am I doing wrong?

I don't understand at all why this code isn't working. What should I be doing here?

app.js
const inputValue = document.getElementById('linkText');
index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
    <head>
      <title>DOM Manipulation</title>
    </head>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" />
    <body>
      <div id="content">
        <label for="linkText">Link Text:</label>
        <input type="text" id="linkText" value="sample text">
        <p class="info"></p>
      </div>
    <script src="app.js"></script>
  </body>
</html>

The challenge wants you to set inputValue to the value attribute of the <input> element rather than selecting the <input> element.

It took me way too long to realize I was looking at the word "value" wrong here. The answer for anyone with a similar problem was = document.getElementById('linkText').value;
