The first step asked up to create a new paragraph element and assign it to newParagraph. You did that, but it looks like it's inside of a function called addElement. That's not necessary for this challenge. The second step asked us to set the class name of newParagraph. The last step asked us to append the paragraph to the content div. As Brandon mentioned, you have a typo here, but make sure it's also camelCase (appendChild not appendchild).

var contentDiv = document.getElementById('content');
var newParagraph = document.createElement('p');
newParagraph.className = "panel";
contentDiv.appendChild(newParagraph);
function addElement () {

var newParagraph = document.createElement('p');
var Newpar = document.createTextNode('This better work.');

  newParagraph.appendchild(Newpar);

var par = document.getElementById('content');

  document.body.insertBefore(newParagraph, content);
}

You had a typo, appendchild should be appendchild. And try to use some more identation.
