What are good ways to put your web design skills to the test??....

What's a good way to practice putting together websites. Right now I'm not at the level where I have actual clients. I guess what I'm saying is I'm lacking content to put on my websites.

Any suggestions???

Make a website resume about yourself and as you learn to can update the code and make it better, starta blog about a hobby or your life, recreate websites you know of and try to make better or different. Check out businesses in your town and see if they have a website you can help improve and give them the option to buy the new site for supper cheap to get the ball rolling.

Have you heard about Jennifer Dewalt? She has a website 180 websites in a 180 days, where she touches on a lot of this. Browse through these and it should get those creative juices flowing.
