What is shown in the video no longer applies

I attempted to follow the steps in the video but VSCode has changed since this course was filmed. It is no longer as straight forward as the instructor makes it look. Can someone please let me know, that has done this recently, how they managed to implement debugging with the current version of VSCode? I cant seem to make it work as instructed.
