PHP Build a Simple PHP Application Creating the Menu and Footer Variables and Conditionals

What is task 3 asking and why isn't my code working on task 4?

It asks "The message in the final echo command only makes sense if your favorite flavor is the same as mine. Add a conditional around that final echo command that checks if the flavor variable has a value of "cookie dough." (Remember to choose carefully between using a single equal sign and a double equal sign in the check.) Preview the code and, if you have a different flavor, make sure the message disappears."

And my solution is:

<?php
$flavor = "cookie dough";
$fv = "cookie dough";
echo "<p>Your favorite flavor of ice cream is ";
echo $flavor;
echo ".</p>";
if ($flavor == "cookie dough") {echo "Randy's favorite flavor is cookie dough, also";}

if ($flavor == "vanilla")

?>

Hi Safery,

Why do you have the second $fv variable there? Also, what were you trying to do with the second if statement? This is all extra code not requested by the challenge.

Suppose your favorite flavor is chocolate. It doesn't make sense then to echo out Randy's statement. So rather than automatically echo that statement out they want you to wrap it in an if block so that it only gets output if your favorite flavor happens to match Randy's.

You have that conditional set up correctly but you have those extra lines of code that I mentioned above. Also, at some point you must have lost the <p> tags around that echo statement. The starter code had the <p> tags wrapped around it.

echo "<p>Randy's favorite flavor is cookie dough, also</p>";

thanks, managed to fix it solved tier 2 :D
