What would be the process for adding an API call instead of creating a custiom dictionary for an Alexa skill?

Instead of creating a dictionary I would like to make an API call for the info. My Alexa skill might be to find the closest car repair shop with the highest rating on Yelp. I would like my Alexa skill to make a call to Yelp based on my location and give me the top pick. Any idea? Thanks
