2,867 PointsWhats the difference in Web Design Track and Front End Web Development? Why aren't they the same?
I mean, it seems like both of them should just merge to be one track? The video for web design isnt loading, so i cant tell by the preview video. Could someone explain it to me?

14,197 PointsI pondered a while about this too. I already have studied some design concepts, and there's a nice curriculum of pretty much every important concept covered in the web design track to fill in any gaps.
On the other hand, there's a lot to be said for front end development. It claims to focus on interaction more than the visual design elements (ie. colour, fonts). Also, I personally don't know any front end developers; lots of people where I live can do basic web design but none can even define front end development. I couldn't either until I started studying at treehouse!
Both are in demand. I live in a small city and planning to work remotely if possible, and I think either track is exciting but in different ways. For me, it seems wise to start with what I know, which most closely would fit web design due to working as a web administrator and illustrator at many previous jobs.

8,600 PointsI live in Central London in England and there is vast amounts of Front End Development Roles, you will rarely see a freelancer or solo web designer in a primarly Front End Development role because they need to do more then just Front End to finish their projects so they are normaly a mix of the both.
But in Web Design Studio Jobs or Team Projects you normaly see a team of:
- Creative Director // Director of Production
- Backend Developers
- Frontend Developers
- Graphics Designers
- Client Services/Support
- Development Manager
- Design Manager
- Content Stratigist
- Copywriters
- and sometimes Software Developers depending on what type of websites the studio designs.

Where as the Web Design Track Focuses mostly on Design Concepts and Techniques.
The Web Design Track does initially introduce Front End Programming Languages as they are core to acutally doing the track but later in the track goes into Logo Design, Layout Design, Search Engine Optizimination, UX Design, Photoshop and Illustrator skills etc. Where as the Front End Web Development track delves more into front end scripting languages such as Javascript and jQuery.
