What's the point of the @ in front of the author's name?

It's written at the end of the video but not really explained, and there's a quiz question that asks what symbol to use in front of the author's name but it still doesn't say why. What's the point? How is it useful/what does it do that just writing the name without an @ symbol wouldn't do?

It denotes a DocBlock tag, related to the PHPDoc standard. Using DocBlocks helps communicate information related to the file, and even specific functionality within it. You can read more about it, from the following links:
