When is it time to move from shared hosting to a VPN (or even dedicated hosting)?

Hello treehouse! I ask this question (in the title) because I was recently hired as a graphic/web designer and have inherited all the websites of the brands within my company. There are eight sites in all. Each one has its own shared hosting account. I would like to move all of them to a single VPN but am unsure if it would provide any benefits (other than making my life easier with only having to manage one hosting account instead of eight). The sites are low traffic with most getting between 500 to 1000 hits a day and have some dynamic content, but are mostly static. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have 4 active sites on my VPN collectively running about 11,000-12,000 hits per day, however I think I am beginning to max out my server resources. I would guess that (depending on the server you are on), using a VPN to host < 15,000 hits per day should be fine. It sounds like you are in the range, so moving all your sites from shared hosting to a VPN sounds like a good option for you at this time.

You probably will not need to upgrade to dedicated hosting, unless you notice all your sites beginning to slow down, or if your hosting provider contacts you saying that you are exceeding your servers resources.
