In this design, the footer is 100% of the screen width, so it never needs to change with different screen sizes. You could, of course, match it to the width of the container - but it's just a design decision.
Of course, with smaller screen sizes, you may want to change the font size of the footer text in media queries, depending on how much text you have in it.
