Why $('main-nav').show(); is not a valid JQuery?

but $('#main-nav').hide(); is? Do I have to select an ID? https://imgur.com/a/gEpefoK

1 Answer

because "main-nav" doesnt exist.

you can select an element by tag name, such as 'p' or 'a' or 'img'
by class such as '.my-class-name'
or by id such as '#main-nav'

id and class can be whatever, as you name those yourself, but there isn't a html tag called main-nav, so that's not a valid selector.
