Why to set up a JSESSIONID as a Cookie by the first request to the application?

The ROLE of Cookie is real clear in this domain, but what is the purpose, to set up a cookie by first request to our app?

We have no any interest in any unauthenticated requests. So why our app send a Cookie initially be the response?
