Why use React/angular (and the likes) in front end development?

I did a research, but the results only tell "made by guys on facebook, fast, etc.. etc..." If I do web dev using wordpress and premium theme, where does react comes in?

Angular is a framework that helps you build large web applications faster. It follows a certain set of principles and if followed will make your application super fast, secure and scale-able. You can certainly write your applications without Angular or React, but you may need to write a lot more boilerplate like updating views etc.
