Python Python Basics (2015) Letter Game App Even or Odd Loop

Why was the argument changed?

Even_odd(num) is a function that already has an argument, when looking at other question posed they suggested to insert your random number variable into even_odd. How does this work?

I thought even_odd already has an argument, wouldn't inserting a new argument inside of the definition, cause a problem?

even.py
import random
start = 5

def even_odd(num):
    # If % 2 is 0, the number is even.
    # Since 0 is falsey, we have to invert it with not.
    return not num % 2
    #Make a while loop that runs until start is falsey
    while start > 0:

        #Inside the loop, use random.randint(1, 99) to get a random number between 1 and 99
        new = random.randint(1,99)
        #If that random number is even (use even_odd to find out), print "{} is even", putting the random number in the hole
        if even_odd(new):
            print("{} is even".format(new))
        else:
            print("{} is odd")
        start -= 1

    return not num % 2

It looks like you have have misinterpreted the instructions. They don't ask you to add an argument or to otherwise modify the "even_odd" function. You should leave it just as it is.

What they do say is to use it for testing random numbers and then printing out which category they fall into. Your loop and testing code will all be done after and outside of the "even_odd" function.

Hi Steven,

Thanks, I realised a few minutes after posting, passed the challenge!
