Hey,
I've been learning Web Design for about 10 months now. I have skills in HTML, CSS, Javascript, Jquery etc...
I've just started learning how to use Wordpress. I noticed like Bootstrap it's very easy to put up a nice looking website together especially if you use other peoples themes.
I was wondering... would you put a site on your portfolio which you used someone else's theme?
Would an employer frown upon that?
I say it because you didn't really create much of the site if you used someone else's theme?
Having said that, the more I learn about web design the more I realise a lot of coders seem to use templates for projects and it's seen as acceptable.
What do you think?
Thanks Joe :)

43,038 PointsHm, for a portfolio that is showcasing you web design skills or WordPress development skills I would not include a site that uses another's theme. The exception would be if I created a child theme from someone else's theme.
Developing you own theme or child theme will be more impressive, relevant, and would also imply you possess all the knowledge that showcasing someone else's theme possibly could.
Now, in the professional world your job is to find the best solutions for your clients / employers, so using templates or purchasing themes is not a problem if it is the right decision for the project.
