Wow. I'm overwhelmed. I know we are supposed to do mobile first...where should I start?

Yeah, I have even downloaded the teacher files because I was completely spinning my wheels...but that's not even helping me. I really don't even know where to begin. This challenge is like 5 times bigger than any previous.

Please Help!

Ednalyn I suspect because I've been "goin through some thangs" that my knowledge in the previous lessons are shaky. I'm going to go ahead and just move forward and take this module again after i'm done.

Following along the video helps me. I would download the project files (make sure it matches the current video you're watching) and make the changes as the instructor does it. I would do this before attempting any challenges.

What exactly do you need help on?

Hey Jonathan, just wanted to let you know I'm feeling the exact same way. This challenge is a huge jump up in difficulty because we are required to remember so much... but it's basically a consolidation of the past few videos we've already watched. I thought I understood everything but I will be starting over from the beginning now. What I'm learning from this is that there's a difference between absorbing or even understanding these rules at face value and then actually putting them into practice. Layouts have been one of the most difficult parts of CSS for me to grasp personally and I've watched many videos, tutorials, read comments etc. There are a LOT of little rules to remember and it can be extremely frustrating. I've attempted this challenge now with no training wheels, but when I get stuck I'll be referring to earlier videos and possibly just starting over from the beginning to let it sink in deeper.

My friend, you don't know how much this has helped me. This challenge has been a huge jump! I was already starting to get iffy on the last handful of videos...I was not feeling good about it and this hit. I'm also working on "A SMARTER WAY TO LEARN HTML AND CSS" which is I think the only beginner coding book that includes lots of practice with the short chapters and the layout section hit concurrently. I seriously tried. Being really stuck for days on end I just decided to go on, to start taking really good and concise /*** Comment notes ***/ beside all the steps I'm not clear on just as a best practice, so I can go back to it, and because I'm not using my notebook full of great notes I started. I'm definitely gonna take this whole section over but really this stuff has been really doable for me until now when it got harder and I had some other stuff in my life pop up at the same time. I'm going forward and I will finish this unless I see clearly that it is just a weakness of my understanding of the previous principles, but either way I'm doing it again and it makes me feel so much less of a loser to know I'm not alone. You made my day. Thank You!

Hey guys, I wanted to come onboard to tell everyone who is suffering with this as well that you are NOT alone.

I've personally taken the entire day just to solve this assignment, I don't care if it's going to take longer, because, in the end, our little neurons are making sure that with each and every line of code we write those pathways are getting more and more familiar.

I'm happy to say that I find this stuff extremely hard and frustrating at times, but we'll get through it all if we keep at it!

Hey Jonathan,

I've only just started the CSS Layout Basics course so haven't quite gotten to part you're on, but I have built many sites using a mobile first CSS approach in the past. My best piece of advice to you would be to do the most simple thing you can possibly imagine.

Ask yourself, what do I know for certain will apply to mobile, as well as larger screens. A couple examples of this could be be the background-color and color properties.

Web projects are very overwhelming, as there's a heck of a lot of things to remember and consider! But as the saying goes "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!".

And if you find yourself not knowing what to style next, then do as Ednalyn recommended and take a look at the teacher's notes.

I've never done CSS Layout before. I've built a few sites but the main thing is I got alot of personal stuff going on right now. I usually follow along with the video like Ednalyn suggests and I do just fine. One bite at a time indeed. Joe follow this lesson closely because at about an hour in you get this challenge and it's like 6 to 8 times bigger than the previous lessons that you can just breeze through. Thank you for the general advice it was helpful.

I might, if I stay stuck like this , just go forward and take this whole section twice.
