Xcode is slow. Time for a new computer?

Xcode is a resource hog, and it's slow on my computer, which is a 4-year-old Macbook air: 4 gigs of ram, 1.3 GHz Intel Core i5.

Based off people's experiences, is this something that warrants a new computer? Or should I try to take my computer who can put more memory into my machine? I'd do it myself, but it requires some major electrical hacking since it all soldered in and stuff. I'm not competent enough to do that without frying my computer.

Hey Michael,

Honestly, I think this is an Xcode problem and Apple really needs to get on top of this constant issue.
My Mac is just over 2 years old (iMac 2.7 GHz i5 Core and 8 GB ram) and I have had more problems than solutions as well. In fact, I've actually all but thrown in the towel for iOS development and have moved my focus to Android development.
Personally, I find it discouraging that a company as large as Apple cannot provide a stable and functional IDE for development... I have had almost no issues with Android Studio.

So, I'm not sure if a new computer would even solve your problems. Even during the videos, I've lost count of the number of times I've seen Pasan having issues with Xcode. I'm pretty sure in almost every other video or so, you hear him say "Xcode is acting up a bit... oh, there we go..."

I guess just know that you are not alone.
Good luck! :dizzy:

It must be a nightmare for people who use the program for their 9-5 jobs, unless they use something else. Glad I'm not alone in my struggles, though. Knowing that just saved me $1,500 or potentially more!
